Why PassThru ?

It is sometimes necessary to reprogram ECU's to regulate and repair cars equipped with OBD systems.

Until now, the ECU's reprogramming capabilities were integrated in OEM's specific diagnostic tools. A consumer had to rely on the car manufacturers dealership. Any non franchise dealership would have to invest in obtaining specialised tools (one per brand!) to be able to perform ECU reprogramming. This factor places the freelance dealership in a non competitive position which ultimately will impact a consumers' freedom of dealership choice.


What is defined in the PassThru specification ?

The protocols which have to be supported by a PassThru device in order to be fully compliant are:
- K-Line ISO 9141
- KWP 2000 ISO 14230-4
- SAE J1850 PWM
- SAE J1850 VPW

What do you need to execute a flashing of the ECU's ?

A device alone is not enough to reprogram the ECU's. To do that, you have to get the software application from the car manufacturer. This software application can be delivered on Internet or on a CD according to the manufacturer. Some car manufacturers decided to check their application with PassThru hardware devices in order to assure the function of a device together with the software. We recommend you to check the compliance of a PassThru device and the recommendation of the car manufacturer before purchase.

First of all, you must modify or buy a modified clone (it works with any cheap clone as long as the chip PIC12F629 is modified, mine is v2011).

I bought my clone already chipped. I did not test with new VCI2 or other Actia versions. Feel free to test.

Crack ACTIA Multi-diag Software Installation Guide:

1 Run ACTIA_NET_BLOCK.bat (Run as administrator if possible)

2Run Activation MAJ MD 033918/keyUpdate (Run as administrator if possible)

2 Install Actia Multidiag Standard Profil (if the case, use S/N: 033918 instead of xxxxxxx)

RESTART COMPUTER after installation finished

3.Go to C:ACTIAPortal

4Remove Wget.exe

5Go to control panel -> uninstall or change a program -> there are 3 drivers made by ACTIA. Remove all 3 drivers.

6Install I+ME-Actia-PassThru-XS2G-Driverpack-2.8.1.14.exe

Then: (supplier told me it is optional, I have done it anyway)

1Go to C:ACTIAPortalchromemultidiagcontentscripts

2Open in a text editor file multidiag.js

3Go to line “var showWarningPT1Window=true” and make this line like

3 “var showWarningPT1Window=false”

Done

Note: it should appear each time when you diagnose that your VCI is old and blablabla, just click continue and it connects to the car

I tested on a few cars from 2000 to 2015 and for 300euro it is worth adding to collection!
